Takeaway THIS, John Hockenberry.

Come check out a lively exchange in which I get to talk to John Hockenberry about the pros and cons of homework on The Takeaway. Come listen live at 6:49 EST on Thursday (WNYC, WGBH...choose your poison) or stream it after the fact at their web page.

  1. Great job, Jessica! And I love your voice. You are so clearly a happy person.

  2. Thanks, MSB. I can't bring myself to listen, but I can't imagine I sounded particularly jovial in this interview. I was rather freaked out. My phone didn't ring when WNYC was all very stressful.

    1. Back in the day I used to do voice-overs and they would tell us to smile as we were talking into the mic. The simple upward arc of your lips actually makes your voice sound happier. Maybe it was your nerves speaking but I heard a smile in there.

  3. Well done!
They set it up as an inflammatory topic and you were the voice of reason, acknowledging the validity of the other side's points, and pointing out how there is a balance between good and a good amount of homework, and family/decompression time.
